Today in this blog I am going to tell you about one of the famous tourist places in Kadapa district. Lankamalla is the divine temple of lord Malleswara swamy, who is the refuge of all the devotees and fulfils all the desires of the devotees. A lot of pilgrims visit this fabulous temple every year. You are allowed here only in the month of Kartika and on the day of shivaratri. At that time special busses are arranged to reach this place.

Lankamalla wildlife sanctuary:

The Lankamalla forest area in the Siddavatam range stands as the head of Rayalaseema. The towering trees, sky-high peaks, waterfalls overwhelm us with awe. This Lankamalla sanctuary is spread over about 465 square kilometres and is a suitable place for tiger migration. According to the forest officials, three to four tigers are roaming in the this lankamalla sanctuary. It is also the habitat of “Jerdon’s Courser” (In Telegu it is called as Kalivikodi) which is the rarest bird in the world.

History of the temple:

According to the Puranas, some say that this Shivalinga was initially installed by Janamejaya maharaja son of Parikshit maharaja, who is the son of Abhimanyu. Other say that it was installed by sage Agastya. Some others say that in the threthayuga, lord Rama worshiped this lord along with Sita and Lakshmana. Since that time this Malleswara swamy was known as Ramalingeswara swamy. Adjacent to this temple we can see a wonderful waterfall. During the full moon days, when the moon rises, the flow of this waterfalls also increases. Devotees believe that if they bathe in the pool formed by the medicinal water from this waterfall and visit the swamy here, their desires will be fulfilled and their sins will also be removed.

How to reach:

It is 14 km from Ranibavi on the way from Mydukur to Badvel and 20 km from Venkata Settipalle on the way from Kadapa to Badvel.
